Body Works Inc. was founded as Weber Chiropractic in 1990 by Dr. Michael D. Weber, DC, ART in the Lead/Deadwood area. In 1995, the practice moved to Spearfish where it has had great success in improving the lives of many patients. Still, Dr. Weber was unsatisfied because of the number of cases not responding to traditional chiropractic care, physical therapy, massage, or other types of medical care.
In 2002 he discovered Active Release Techniques, ART, a medically patented technique used to treat soft tissue areas of the body, such as scar tissue, adhesions, nerve entrapments, myofasciitis, and other conditions involving the muscles, ligaments, tendons, and nerves. ART is effective for all types of injuries. As the only certified ART professional in the area, Dr. Weber brings non-surgical, hands on healing to patients suffering from conditions ranging from chronic migraine headaches, back, neck, and shoulder pain, knee problems, plantar fasciitis, carpal tunnel syndrome, sciatica, etc… These conditions and many more can often be resolved quickly and permanently with ART. A typical ART session incorporates both examination and treatment with Dr. Weber using his hands to evaluate the texture, tightness, and movement of muscles, fascia, tendons, ligaments, and nerves. Precisely directed tension coupled with very specific patient movements treat the abnormal tissue areas. Also used as a preventative measure, ART has been utilized by many US Olympians prior to competition. Or after injury, many professional sports teams have ART providers available to keep their athletes in top physical form.
In 2008 Dr. Weber discovered the PRO Adjuster and its technologies, often referred to as "Smart Chiropractic" because of its use of computer technology developed by NASA subcontractors. This device delivered a type of chiropractic treatment that was excellent for patients who are unable to tolerate or handle the twisting, turning, or "cracking" of the joints. We are currently combining the use of ART and the PRO Adjuster along with other types of treatments and are having amazing results.
