Don’t Let Neck Pain Drag You Down!

Woman at her computer with neck pain

Working nonstop on your computer can lead to neck pain. Take breaks regularly.

Do you spend hours in front of the computer without a break? Do you slouch every time you curl up with your favorite book? Do you have a spinal injury? If all or any of these result in neck pain, chiropractic can help!

When the natural curve in your neck straightens or bends backwards, your neck becomes stiff and may develop a cervical kyphosis. This condition resembles the posture of a soldier on duty standing at attention. A healthy neck consists of having a proper lordosis. Our chiropractors can help determine whether you have a healthy lordotic curve in the neck or not.

What Can You Do to Help?

Don’t just live with the pain and hope it goes away. Try some of these helpful action steps to improve the health of your neck. Of course, if you need additional help, one of our member chiropractors are always available.

1. Take regular breaks from your desk. Working nonstop on your computer can lead to neck pain. Take breaks regularly. Getting up and moving from your desk provides vital movement for your neck and spine.

2. Address your spinal injury. Spinal or whiplash injury can also disturb the neck’s normal curvature. Hyperextension of the spinal column can cause neck pain. When this happens, remember; you don’t have to cope with the pain alone. Chiropractic adjustments can help provide relief and correction to your spine and improve the function of your nervous system.

3. Get your posture corrected. Poor posture and chronic pain go hand in hand. Poor posture puts unnecessary pressure on your spinal bones and nerves, causing impaired function in the body. To restore health to your posture, spine, and nervous system, make positive changes to your lifestyle. Try not to slouch when you relax and practice sitting up straight. Plan an exercise regimen and some fun activities that keep you active and moving!

4. Try a new neck pillow. A cervical traction neck pillow may help you wake up free of neck pain, breathe easier, and enjoy better posture while you sleep.

Chiropractic Care and Muscle Strengthening

Keep your neck mobile to stay healthy and pain free. It’s important to regularly exercise your neck. When you strengthen your neck muscles, you improve the mobility of your spine. Chiropractic adjustments, together with strengthening and stretching exercises, can help relieve pain and restore the body’s ability to heal itself.

Contact one of our member chiropractors with any questions or for a thorough evaluation of your neck. Experience the blessing of life by staying healthy and living happy.
